2020 has been a curveball so far. (Can you imagine history textbooks in 50 years from now?!)

Anyway, I just wanted to post a journal —for the first time in 3 years lol— to say, whatever happens with dA/eclipse on May 1st through the 3rd, I’ll still be here (not online obviously), and hopefully, posting on the 4th! It’s a little crazy how some people are just gonna leave dA all together, but I can understand of course.

This place really does mean so much to me and this October I’ll be a member for 10 years. Whatever happens, happens I guess.

Actually, dA is the only place I post art. Please give me suggestions where I should post if this place does go downhill

I've been trying to be calm about this all day. Most of my friends are like "Don't worry about net neutrality, Maris. It's not gonna happen." But I specifically remember everyone having the same attitude last year when Trump was in the running, and look where we are today. I'm trying to have high hopes. There are articles saying that if we lose net neutrality it'll take a while to go into effect because of court battles and whatnot. But, of course, I don't want to lose my internet freedom one bit. 

So, if we do lose net neutrality, then I want to say this now if I do disappear from dA (I'm not 100% sure what's going to happen obviously): To the friends I've made on this website, I love you so much and I treasure the friendships I've made. If you ever want to talk to me outside of here, I have a kik (@ tainted_fate). DeviantART has truly made an impact on my life artistically, and I could never truly express my gratitude for it. I discovered a love for writing and digital art. It's more than a hobby, it's my life. 

I just wanted to say this before everything goes to shit (possibly, I won't know til 10:30 am tomorrow).

Update 9/6 9:08 PM: Hurricane Irma has killed 3 people, from what I heard about an hour ago.

Many news stations are predicting that the eye of the storm won't touch land on Florida, at most we'll get lost of wind and feet of rain. My mom was able to get more water today, luckily, and 2 cases for my sister's friend. We got the downstairs shutters up today and hopefully getting up the others tomorrow (my window is the most difficult, sadly). Sunday night/Monday morning is when it's going to hit, but of course, things can change and alter. This bitch is the size of Ohio (if you're not from the states, it's about 400 miles across). 

Of course I'll keep you guys updated. However we might lose power on Sunday/Monday. Sigh...

I live in Florida. I'm just a bit panicky from Hurricane Irma. There are so many possibilities of how this is playing out. Key West is being evacuated tomorrow. Water was sold out YESTERDAY. Luckily my family and I have plenty of water, and we're going to be putting on shutters very soon. I'm just scared, this hurricane is so massive and intense and I don't want my home to be gone. (A lot of this is really fucking with my psyche since her name is "Irma" and Irma was/is my very first oc, so I'm just hoping Hurricane Irma doesn't take any lives. That would ultimately kill me.) 

 

If any Floridians are reading this, please.. be safe. If you have irreplaceable things, make sure they're secure. Tolls are free right now, but going north is also risky.
